Suit up and save at these gear swaps
A perennial tradition of Vermont fall and early winter, ski and skate swaps are a great way to get yourself or the family fully outfitted with some good “yankee thrift” and help out your local ski club, PTA or academy. Ski and skate sales can be found all over the state and we’ve got a selection here. Mark you calendars and be sure to arrive early.
Pico Ski Club Annual Ski & Snowboard Sale and Swap
Equipment drop-off:
Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 4 to 6 p.m., Pico Retail Shop; Thursday, Oct. 1 from 4 to 6 p.m., Pico Base Lodge – Sunshine Room; Friday, Oct. 2 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Pico Base Lodge – Sunshine Room.
Sale hours:
Friday, Oct. 2 from 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 4 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pico Base Lodge
Additional details:
The Pico Ski Club will accept consignments of gently used, clean ski, snowboard and athletic clothing (no street clothing), and modern alpine and snowboard equipment. All equipment must meet current safety standards. Local shops will participate as well.
All un-sold consignment items must be picked up by 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct, 4 at the Pico Base Lodge.
Colchester Ski, Board and Skate Sale
Equipment drop-off:
Friday, Oct. 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Colchester High School
Sale hours:
Saturday, Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pick up unsold items and profits between 3 and 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Killington Ski Club Monster Ski and Bike Sale
Equipment drop-off:
Saturday, Oct. 3 through Thursday, Oct. 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m; Friday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Killington Ramshead Base Lodge.
Sale hours:
Friday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 9 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Oct. 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ramshead Base Lodge.
Additional details:
Prices are negotiable all day Sunday. New this year, street and mountain bikes are welcome. Unsold items must be picked up between Sunday and Oct. 17.
Montpelier Recreation Department Ski and Skate Sale

The sale will accept ski and snowboard equipment. No straight skis or clothing of any kind will be accepted.
Cochran’s Ski Sale

Friday, Nov. 6, from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Camel’s Hump Middle School.
Sale hours:
Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Camel’s Hump Middle School.
Waitsfield PTA Ski & Skate Sale
Equipment drop-off:
Friday, Nov. 13, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Waitsfield Elementary School.
Sale hours:
Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Waitsfield Elementary School.
Additional details
No helmets or straight skis accepted. The Waitsfield PTA takes a 20 percent commission on all sales.
Okemo Mountain School Ski and Snowboard Swap

Nov. 14, 15 and 18, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sitting Bull Bar
Sale hours:
Nov. 20, 4 to 7 p.m.; Nov. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Okemo Base Lodge.

Twenty-five-percent of all sales benefit Okemo Mountain School.
Cambridge Rotary Club Ski Swap
Equipment drop-off:
Friday, Nov. 20 at the Cambridge Elementary School, 6 to 8 p.m.
Sale hours:
Saturday, Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 22, 10 a.m. to noon at the Cambridge Elementary School.
Additional details:
The ski swap welcomes new and used winter clothing and sports equipment (no straight skis). Twenty percent of proceeds benefit Cambridge Elementary School’s Winter Wellness Days at Smugglers’ Notch.
Stratton Mountain School Ski and Snowboard Swap
