Think Pink: Stratton Snowshoe Series Adds to $2.8 million Raised for Breast Cancer Research

STRATTON — Over 600 stompers dressed in vibrant splashes of pink and walked or ran the scenic  Stratton Nordic trails on their snowshoes  for the 13th Annual Tubbs Romp to Stomp breast cancer on Saturday.

Individuals and teams including breast cancer survivors raised $41,000 for breast cancer research and awareness. Andrea Weinberger, a survivor and 5K race winner  said she runs in the fundraising event because “I feel lucky that I’m standing here and getting to do the race. I have friends that didn’t make it so … you do it to remind yourself that you survived.”

Participation is about even with last year’s Romp, but fundraising is down. Organizers are hopeful to receive more donations as fundraising remains open until March 31. Tubbs Romp to Stomp has grown to many locations and has raised over $2.8 Million for the Susan G. Komen foundation since 2003. Stratton is dubbed the original location of what is now the largest snowshoe series in the world.
